THE HEARTRIPPER OR THE BARREL OF DISGRACE / Teatr Dada von Bzdülöw / Gdansk / Poland

Since 1993 the youth theatre of a youth club in Gdansk work under the direction of the choreographer Leszek Bzdyl. The ten young amateur actors and dancers have already been to festivals and theatre meetings in Lyon, Metz, Copenhagen, Sefton and Berlin. During the festivals, the group performs two productions. One is based on a book from Boris Vian and carries the title "The Heartripper or the Barrel of Disgrace". The play deals with a poem within this work that picks out as its central theme the emptiness of life and the role of the youth that grow up there. ›The man who lies – Heiner Müller, for example‹ is the title of the second production. This deals poetically with the appearances and disappearances of pictures and fragments of Heiner Müllers dramas ›Hamletmaschine‹, ›Quartett‹ and ›Rundown shore‹.
